Day 21
Hi guys! Today was our day at the San Diego Zoo and we were super excited!
The zoo is massive taking almost 20-30 minutes to walk from the entrance to the back of the park! We started by catching the sky tram over the zoo which was a lot of fun! So many animals too see and so much walking to do! The photo’s will take over this blog, showing the animals we saw and there were loads, so ill keep it short!
The enclosures we’re well presented and it was a very clean, tidy up kept zoo. The highlights for me were seeing Flamingo’s (that damn neighbor! Emma Rice will get this) Having a little burrowing Owl land on my arm, seeing Panda’s, Gorillas, a snow leopard, getting up close and personal with a Lioness laying right near the glass, watching a Bonobo ape suck its own nipple (hahaha), Galapagos turtles mating, Capuchin Monkeys and watching Colobus Monkey’s play (which I could have watched all day it was so cute!)! This was an awesome day that we started at about 9.30 and finished a bit after five with very sore feet!
Heading back to our hotel we took a time out in the hot tub, before deciding on dinner googling the many restaurant around us trying to decide what we felt like. We finally settled on a restaurant called The Lazy Dog with an amazing menu! it was almost 8pm when we arrived and very busy, being over a half hour wait for a table they offered us takeaway, Greg and I jumped at this as we were set on what we wanted to eat and the idea of heading back to the hotel to eat with no pants on and in front of the tv in our comfy hotel room sounded too good to be true! I had the USDA Prime Coulotte Steak (the best part of the sirloin) wrapped in a thick slice of hickory-smoked bacon, grilled & served atop our sauteed baby spinach & mashed potatoes with burgundy wine sauce (they forgot the baby spinach, but it was delicious so who cares) and Greg had the Tender Baby Back Ribs grilled to order & brushed with our molasses BBQ sauce, served with mashed potatoes and chilled sweet corn & black bean succotash salad, this took him ages to eat but he enjoyed every bite! We finished off our evening with a white chocolate chip brownie with vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate fudge! Yum. We are now both in food comas and feeling good.
Enjoy the photo’s guys!
